Entropy Measure of Generating Random Rough Surface for Numerical Simulation of Wave Scattering

نویسندگان

چکیده

Numerical simulation of random rough surface finds wide applications in scientific disciplines, e.g., radar remote sensing terrain and sea. In scattering surface, not only energy conservation must be ensured, but also, perhaps equally important, the inherent properties preserved. However, proper choice grid sizes that are statistically representative poses a problematic issue. This study applied entropy measure to determine such parameter settings by examining relative error sample associated with roughness parameters noticing fact certain parameters, including power spectrum density function, have unique entropy. It is found if two criteria met, length size attainable warrant minimum uncertainties surfaces maximum information content for different spectra functions under correlation lengths. The feasibility superiority proposed entropy-based method validated terms also bistatic coefficients generated using obtained parameters.

Numerical Simulation of Random Irregular Waves for Wave Generation in Laboratory Flumes

Understanding of wave hydrodynamics and its effects are important for engineers and scientists. Important insights may be gained from laboratory studies.  Often the waves are simulated in laboratory flumes do not have the full characteristics of real sea waves. It is then necessary to present reliable methods of wave generation in wave flumes.  In this paper, the results of numerically simulate...

Numerical Studies Of Rough Surface Scattering Models

I have continued to work on the development of theoretical surface scattering models. My objective is to discover or devise a model that accurately predicts scattering from rough surfaces but which also can be used in practical models of acoustic propagation and scattering. In conjunction with this objective, I have been working with another ONR researcher to develop an exact numerical method f...

Applications of numerical models for rough surface scattering

This thesis provides new computational models for electromagnetic surface scattering which allow large one and two dimensional problems to be considered through the use of efficient numerical algorithms and parallel computing techniques. This is in contrast with previous numerical studies that have been limited to relatively small surfaces rough in one dimension only. The new numerically exact ...

Numerical Simulations of Wave Scattering from Two-layered Rough Interface

Method of Moments (MOM) combining with the Kirchhoff Approximation(KA) for analysis of the problem of optical wave scattering by a stack of two one-dimensional Gaussian rough interfaces is solved. The scattered field from the upper interface is solved by MOM and the transmitted field from the lower one is expressed from the Kirchhoff approximation where the multiple scattering phenomenon is neg...

Wave Propagation and Scattering in Random Media and Rough Surfaces

Many natural and man-made media such as the atmosphere, oceans, geophysical media, biological media, and composite and disordered materials have random spatial inhomogeneities and vary randomly in time, and these media are called “random media. ’’ Microwaves, optical waves, and acoustic waves propagating in these media experience random fluctuations in space and time, and these fluctuations aff...
